T. SAMUEL BURNS DIES AFTER SHORT SICKNESS
T. Samuel Burns, aged 70 years, passed away at this home, 17 Charles street, Monday afternoon, after a short illness. He was born in this city and was a son of the late Thomas and Ellen (Welch) Burns.
For over 25 years he was superintendent of St. Mary's cemetery, retiring in 1919, and for a short time made his home in Boston. In addition to his duties at the cemetery he was a carpenter for the Immaculate Conception church property. He was well known and had many friends.
Mr. Burns is survived by one son, Robert S. Burns, of Brighton; one daughter, Mrs. Willard P. Fogg of Melrose; two grandchildren; one brother, William Burns of Newbury; and one sister, Miss Mary E. Burns of this city; and several other relatives.
He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the funeral will take place from his home Thursday, at 8:15 a.m., with solemn high mass at that church at 9 o'clock.

Funeral services for Thomas Samuel Burns, who for over 25 years was superintendent of St. Mary's cemetery, were held this morning from his home, 17 Charles street, followed by high mass of requiem at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rev. William J. Maguire officiating, assisted by Rev. John H. Quinlan as deacon, and Rev. Armand Provost, sub-deacon. The services were largely attended.
The bearers were Daniel Kelleher, John J. Hogan, Anthony Murphy, John J. Lucey, Thomas McDonald, Charles Carroll, all of this city, Anthony Moynihan of Lynn, and William P. Healey of Amesbury. The burial was in the family lot at St. Mary's cemetery. Rev. William J. Maguire read the committal services. There were many floral tributes and spiritual bouquets.
