Her funeral service was Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh with the Rev. Dr. David Hailey officiating. A private burial service at Montlawn Memorial Park followed.
Born Feb. 10, 1923, in Oxford , she was the first-born twin of the late E.O. and Grace Currin Eakes of Oxford . Mrs. Tuttle attended the Woman?s College of Greensboro and was married in 1940. She was active in home-front causes during World War II while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. She later became proficient in bookkeeping and accounting. This enabled her to be an active partner with her husband in establishing a longtime retail business, Tuttle Appliance Co., in Louisburg and Raleigh . She was a charter member of the Woman?s Club of Louisburg and was elected its first president prior to moving to Raleigh in 1956. She will always be remembered for her devotion and strong support of her family and friends, her love of gardening and her passion for golf.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Myron U. Tuttle; one son, Robert M. Tuttle of Morehead City ; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Eloise Eakes Heath, and a brother, George Thomas Eakes.
