She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church and the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her children and grandhiclren and had written special poesm to each child. Her family was very important to her and she had recently found several of her brothers and sisters after searching for them for 60 years. She enjoyed crocheting and at the age of 60 began learning to use the computer and loved talking to people from all over the county.
Ruth"Dorothy" Davis died Saturday, October 9, 1999 at the home of her daughter at the age of 69.
She is survived by six daughters; Karen Stark and her husband Roy of Ormond Beach, F., Sally Sigler and her friend Joe Grimes of Jonesboro, AR., Janet Lewis and her friend Allen Lutterman of Rose Lodge, Or, Sue Hammer and her husband Ed of Ketchum, OK, Florence Hensley and her husband Larry of Keokuk, IA., and Kathie Kelly of Hamilton, I., five sons J.C. Lewis II and his wife Pam of Hannibal, MO, Russell Davis, Jr. and his wife Angel of Keokuk, IA, William Davis and his wife Misty of Hermosa, SD, John Lewis and his wife Robin of Macon, MO, and Paul Kelly of Keokuk, IA, five sisters: Ruth Eckland of Keokuk, IA, Gloria Brewington of Piedmont, Mo, Nancy Mathias of St. Louis, MO, George Brinkley of Piedmont, MO, and Denny Brinkley of Rolla, MO, 44 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Gary Lee Lewis and Charles Elmer Lewis, two sister: Charlotte Dobbins and Patty Ballard, three brothers; Myron Dray, Wilbert Brinkley and Lloyd Brinkley, and three grandchildren, Jerald Leroy Mortimer, Rodger Wayne Kettering and Billy H. Sigler, Jr.
Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
