Leslie Calvin "Les" Hockenbroch, 81, of Millerstown RR 2, Susquehanna Twp., Juniata County, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 in Brookline Manor Nursing Care Center, Mifflintown RR 1.

He was born Aug. 13, 1923 in Greenwood Twp., Perry County, to the late Aaron Delvin and Arna (Bucher) Hockenbroch.

He initially was employed by the Naval Depot, Mechanicsburg, and then worked for 15 years at Central Steel, Harrisburg, and retired in 1985 from Harsco steel plant, Harrisburg, as an inspector for 23 years; a 1941 graduate of Liverpool High School; and a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where he served as secretary of the cemetery association and sexton of the cemetery for more than 40 years, and the United Steelworkers Union, Harrisburg.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Zelda Marie Pyle Hockenbroch; four sons, Floyd C. of Richfield, Mark D. of McAlisterville RR 1, Lewis E., at home, and Jay K. of Newville; a foster son, David W. Dupert of Pasadena, Md.; a brother, Leon of Newport RR 1; a sister, Myrna Buckley of Liverpool; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Hockenbroch of Liverpool RR 1; six grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior "Chupp" Hockenbroch, and a great-granddaughter, Hope Hannah Rhoads.

Services were held Sept. 15 in his church with the Rev. Salvatore E. Buonocore officiating and the Rev. G. Phillip May assisting. Burial was in the church cemetery.
