Letty Taylor was a charter member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Birmingham, Alabama. She retired from the Alabama Department of Public Safety and was a resident of Birmingham for 40 years. Her survivors were a son, Guy Ashmore of California, daughters Elizabeth Taylor of Selma and Cindy Moseley of Birmingham, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Records indicate that Letitia Taylor's biological father is Thomas McDaniel and that McDaniel is her birth name. She was raised by her mother's second husband, Clisby Mock.

Letitia Taylor's birth year of 1908 originates from newspaper records. Her birth certificate shows a birth year of 1914, however, since the certificate was issued in the 1960's, it is not necessarily historically accurate.
