David Clifton,45 died at Owen Co. Memorial Hospital from a heart attack. He was the next to youngest of 14 children of James & Elvira Jackson Clifton. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Johnson Clifton and three children Alice Faye,David Bruce and Joan Carol.
In June 1941, he enlisted for a term of one year. After Pearl Harbor, he spent 39 months in England as a aircraft mechanic. He never spoke much about his time overseas except for amusing incidents although one time he spoke of seeing an enemy plane shot down with the pilot begging for his life.
Upon returning to the States he married and started a family. He bought a farm on the Old New Liberty Rd and attended school under the GI bill. In 2014 his widow remains on the farm he purchased over 60 years ago.
