Park in Lancaster. Jane Porter Reynolds made one gesture that will keep
her name fresh in people minds for generations. In 1939, she donated the
land for Jane Reynolds Park at 716 West Oldfield in Lancaster.
Jane Reynolds moved to the U.S. from Ireland in 1864 and to Lancaster 1896.
She got a job at the Western Hotel and later met her husband Maurice James "Jumbo" Reynolds-a railroad well digger who lived at the Western
Hotel. Reynolds donated land for the park because she felt sorry for the
farmers' children, who had no place to play when their families came to
town for supplies. Jane Reynolds Park still serve the as the park today.
The Western Hotel is a Museum and land mark of Lancaster

Jane Porter immigrated to America at age 22 in 1888 to New York and stayed there
to work and save money to return to Ireland, twice to bring a brother Sam and a
sister Nellie to America. To save money she traveled by Sturge but suffered for
it being seasick on each round trip. Jane Porter arrived in California in 1894 there onto Los Angeles in 1850's Shew was a companion to a Doctors wife, who was ill.
They came to Lancaster in 1896. The lady died, the doctor returned to Los Angeles,
Jane Porter stayed in Lancaster where she be came a cook in the Western Hotel
on 10th street. She met M.J. Reynolds. They married 1/11/1897 in Los Angeles,
she was 31 years old, M.J. was 35 years old M.J. retired at age 55 because of poor
health and died accidentally in 1916, Jane Reynolds later donated the land in Lancaster where Jane Reynolds Park is now stands in 1999. In April 1949 she fell
and fractured her leg. Later the same year she died at age 83 years She had 8 grand
children and 2 great grand children, her own children and her sibling . There are conflicting dates from articles written about Jane Reynolds, her relatives say because she didn't know when she was born, Based on the marriage date and her
