TORRINGTON, Wyo. - Nathan Homer Blackstone, 94, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard.
Graveside services for will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Valley View Cemetery with Pastor Danny Floyd officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
Homer was born July 11, 1917 in Bayard, the son of Charles and Lucy (Mabel Bowers) Blackstone. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1942 to 1946 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Fort Benning, Ga., Fort Carson, Colo., and Germany. On his return from the service he did what he loved, working on ranches as a cowhand in Wyoming and Nebraska. He married Ora Douglas on April 25, 1959. The resided in Alliance where was employed by the City of Alliance. Upon his retirement they moved to Torrington, Wyo. where he resided until his passing.
Nathan was one of eight children. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister Mary Newman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Blackstone of Bayard; and many nephews and nieces.
Preceding Nathan in death were his parents; wife Ora; brothers, Joe (Lela), Earl (Pauline), LaVern, and Nolan; and sisters, Millie (Doug) Butler, and Charlotte.
He was well loved and will be greatly missed.
