Nelda Rae Bullock Allen, 76, of Ruston, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She was born, August 15, 1935, in Choudrant, LA. Mrs. Allen graduated from Downsville High School as Valedictorian in her class and attended Louisiana Tech. She was a lifelong resident in the New Hope Community of Ruston, LA. Mrs. Allen was known for being a seamstress for many years for area businesses, friends, and family. She was a very active member of her church, The Living Church of God of Monroe, LA. and loved her family, friends, square-dancing, gardening and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Bennett Allen, of Ruston. Her sons: Dennis Edward Allen and wife, Debbie, John Kelvin Allen and wife, Tina, Charles Bennett Allen and wife Betty all of Ruston. Grandson, Brad Allen and wife, Holly, and great grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha Allen, Granddaughter, Amy Allen Lackey and husband, Ian and great granddaughter, Sylvia and step great grandson, Harrison Lackey. Granddaughters, Ashley Allen, Kathryn Dawn Allen Vantiger and husband Taylor, and Emily Allen. Step grandchildren Angela Snellenberger and Jon Carpenter, step great-grandchildren Blake Emory, Chase Rogers, Caroline Rogers, Justin Carpenter, Casey Carpenter, and step great-great granddaughter Teaguen Emory. Mrs. Allen is also survived by her brothers, Clarence Demar Bullock and Charles Lane Bullock of Ruston. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clarence and Lena Hammons Bullock, Brothers, Robert Morris Bullock, Ruston, and Jerry Max Bullock, Choudrant and Sister, June Bullock Albritton of Downsville. Services will be held, Monday, May 28, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. before services for friends and family. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant, LA. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Allen, Todd Bullock, Taylor Vantiger, Ricky Albritton, Andy Griffin and Sam Monk.
