VIOLET E. GOULD, 1903-2003

Atchison, Kan., Violet E. Gould, 100, lifelong Atchison area resident, died Wed., Aug. 20, 2003 at Medicalodge nursing home in Atchison. Mrs. Gould was born Feb. 11, 1903, at Lowemont, Kan., the daughter of Ashton and Abigail (Highfill) Hundley. She attended grade school at Potter, Kan., and graduated from Atchison High School. She had worked at Ramsey's Clothing Store in Atchison and then as a housemother for Children's Receiving Home at Atchison for many years.

Mrs. Gould was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Mainzinger; and a son, Alfred C. Gould; a sister; four brothers; and a grandson. Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Thomas of Cummings, Kan.; and Doris Rau of Monett, Mo.; a son, Glenn D. Gould of Glacier, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The graveside service and burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison.
