William J. Shellhamer of E. Holden, Maine William J. Shellhamer, formerly of Endicott, died Saturday, January 20, 1990 at St. Josephs Hospital in Bangor, Maine, He was the son of Arthur and the late Marie Shellhamer. He was an employee of Webber Oil Co. and had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Holden Fire Department for 15 years, serving as Fire Chief for the the past three years. He is survived by his wife, Alice; four daughters and three sons and their children. Memorial services were held at the Kiley-Birmingham Funeral Home, Brewer, Maine, on Tuesday, January 23, 1 990 with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett officiating.

A TIME TO BE BORN...


William John Shellhamer was born to Arthur and Marie (Simpson) Shellhamer on 8 September, 1932 in Binghamton, New York. He was their only child.


A TIME TO PLANT...


William "Bill" went to area schools in the Binghamton area and joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean conflict. He served our country for 4 years and was honorably discharged.


A TIME TO LOVE...


On 18 June,1954,he married the love of his love, Alice. Cameron in Brewer, Maine. To this union,7 children were born...Helen, Cindy, William, Jr, Arthur, Kurt, Beth and Marie.

He worked many years at Webber Oil and was the Fire Chief at the Holden Fire Department for many years and up to his death.


A TIME TO DIE...


William departed this life on 20 January, 1990 in Bangor, Maine at the age of 58.


A TIME TO REMEMBER...


William leaves behind his wife and 7 children and his father. He was predeceased by his mother.


William along w/his beloved wife Alice were interred at Black Hills National Cemetery w/military honors provided by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Sturgis Volunteer Honor Guard. Mr. and Mrs. Shellhamer were escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders from their daughter Beth's home in Deadwood to the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.


Services were held on Friday 8 September, 2017 at 1:30p.m. at the rotunda at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

HOLDEN — William J Shellhamer 57, fire chief of Holden, died Jan 20 1990 at a local hospital. He was born Sept 8 1932 in Binghamton NY the son of Arthur R and Marie (Simpson) Shellhamer.


An employee of Webber Oil Co Mr. Shellhamer had served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Holden Fire Department for 15 years serving as chief for the past three years.


He is survived by his beloved wife and friend Alice (Cameron) Shellhamer of Holden and his father of Endicott NY. He is also the beloved father of three sons William J Jr of Gorham, Arthur V of Bangor and Kurt R of Brewer and four daughters Helen M Edwards of Gouldsboro SC, Cindy Lee Maynard of Holden, Beth Ann Davis of Limestone and Marie E Watson of Bangor and 10 grandchildren.


Memorial services will be held 1 pm Tuesday at the Kiley-Birmingham Funeral Home 69 State St Brewer with the Rev Dr Rex H Garrett Jr of the Eastern Maine Medical Center chaplaincy staff officiating.


Mr. Shellhamer will be sadly missed by family friends and members of the Holden Fire Department.
