He was born May 17, 1926 in Corbin, KY to the late Arthur and Delia Bunch Amburn, a retired manager in the Product Deployment Operations department at G.E. for over 34 years and an Army veteran having served during World War II.
He was a charter member at Hurstbourne Baptist Church, member of Project Warm, a volunteer project associated with GE for helping the unfortunate during the winter months. He was also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, a Kentucky Colonel and was the recipient of the Kentucky Belle Award in 1996.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lena Hammons Amburn; his son, David Amburn; granddaughter, Catherine June Amburn; and two brothers, Leon and Vernon Amburn.
He is survived by his son, Tom (Sandy) Amburn; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth, Allan Lee and Thomas Lee Amburn; and four nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be 11am Monday at Pearson-Ratterman Bros. Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd, Middletown, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8pm at the funeral home.
