According to my grandmother's sister, Goldie May Mozingo Rader, her father (my great grandfather James Lee Mozingo) was 11 months old when his mother died. It is not certain if James Lee Mozingo was born in 1885, 1886, 1887, or 1888. It seems unlikely he was born in 1889 or 1890, although in some records he reflected those years as his birth, according to the age he stated.
The only way I can see ever truly knowing when James Lee was born and Mary Belle died, would be to find some solid proof of her death. Mary Belle's brother, James Bowman, stated in a deposition in 1904 when submitting his claim for a pension from their father's service in the Civil War, that his sister "Isabel" (who is undoubtedly Mary Belle) died "sometime in 1885". If this be true, a woman who died in 1885 could not give birth after 1885. Thus, if we believe this, then it is likely James Lee was born in 1885. If so, he may have been younger than "11 months old" when his mother died. Again, we do not have enough solid evidence to confirm any more at this time.
