Dwight Stanley Burns, 79, of Bald Knob, AR., died Wednesday June 20, 2012, at White County Medical Center.

He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on December 23, 1932, to the late Domer A. and Lavora Mae Merrell Burns.

Dwight moved to Bald Knob at the age of 6 and grew up in the 23 Community where he enjoyed riding his bicycle around in the hills with his cousins. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bald Knob. He worked as a Welder for the Pipeliners Local 798 for 58 years; his work took him many places including all the states in the U.S. as well as South America, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Omen. Dwight enjoyed being at home with his family between jobs most of all.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brandon Burns; son, David Burns (Judy) of Bald Knob; daughter, Judy Mae Willbanks (Charles) of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Sarah Burns of Conway; brother, Merle Burns of Ben Lomand, Arkansas; sisters, Jerry Long (Walter) and Deloris Eugenia Burns of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; half-brothers, Arugus Loyd Burns, Cloyd Burns, and Doyle Burns and half-sister, Lena Burns Snyder.

Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia.
