He had lived in Dexter and Bloomfield, Missouri most of his life. He had worked as a self employed landscaper before his health forced his retirement and was of the Baptist Faith.
On January 14, 1986, he was married to Patricia Christian in Malden, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Black of Bloomfield, Missouri; one daughter, Tricia Newell of Dexter, Missouri; one son, Michael Black of Bloomfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Seth McKinney of Park Hills, Missouri, Drake Hampton and Lixus Newell both of Dexter, Missouri; two brothers, Ricky L. Black of Rolla, Missouri, Wayne K. Black of Bloomfield, Missouri; two sisters, Mary K. Sander of Sikeston, Missouri and Teresa L. Sanders of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends survive to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nelda J. Black.
