OTIS Bernard V. Stos, 71, died Aug. 26 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born Dec. 23, 1933, at Great Bend, the son of Joseph and Julia (Axman) Stos. He married Marcella Marie Oborny on Dec. 29, 1953, at Timken. She survives.

A mechanic and farmer, he was a lifetime resident of the Otis area.

Stos was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, both of Olmitz.

Survivors, besides his wife, include four sons, Michael Stos of Hoisington, Patrick Stos of Broken Arrow, Okla., David Stos of Galva and Kelly Stos of Manhattan; five daughters, Beradean Herl and Rita Budig-Frenzl, both of Great Bend, Maureen Faber of Colwich, Kristina Pottroff of Manhattan and Colleen Sharkey of Otis; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Leo and Leonard Stos, and one sister, Mary Schiller.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Olmitz, with the Rev. Ultan Murphy officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann's Cemetery, Olmitz. Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, where a special rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to Otis Emergency Medical Technicians or to St. Ann's Church, both in care of the funeral home.
