Marilyn Yvonne Hawkins Martin, 67 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was a native of Hardin County and an active member of Round Top Baptist Church. She was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and the E-town, Hardin County and Larue County Retired Teachers Association. She was very active in the Jail Ministry in Hardin County. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher at Vine Grove Elementary for 31 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Lee and Frances Hawkins and a brother, Donald Hawkins. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Don Martin; three sons, Mark (Tina) Martin and Jason Martin all of Elizabethtown and Brent (Kim) Martin of Glendale; one brother, Kenneth L. (Ruth) Hawkins of Elizabethtown; one sister-in-law, Janice Hawkins of Versailles and four granddaughters, Kailey, Taylor, Macey and Rylie. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Davis and Rev. Gene Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in Round Top Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon's International.
