Howard R. "Huck" Brandtonies, 80, of Scenery Hill, died unexpectedly Monday, July 26, 2004, in Washington. He was born April 26, 1924 in Vestaburg, a son of Henry and Frances Brandtonies.
Mr. Brandtonies was a 1942 graduate of East Bethlehem High School.
During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces.
He worked for 45 years at Jones & Laughlin Steel Vesta 5 mine, which later became A.T. Massey. He started as a lampman and retired in 1986 as a mechanic in the LaBelle Processing Plant.
Mr. Brandtonies was a member of Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391 of Fredericktown; the United Mine Workers of America Local 762; and attended Emanuel United Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four.
He enjoyed bowling in the Thursday seniors mixed league at Tan-O-Bell Lanes,
Bentleyville; and was a Bentworth Bearcats football fan who attended all the Bentworth High School football games and board meetings.
On December 22, 1951, he married Estelle Biddle Brandtonies.
