Mrs. Adkerson worked for Disston for 15 years. She spent most of her life in 1st Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where she belonged to UMW, Women's Christian Temperance Union and Kitty Stowe Bible Class. One of her favorite sayings was "Nothing in my hand I bring… Simply to the Cross I Cling".
