Funeral Is Held Tuesday for Dick E. Doornink

Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church at Le Mars at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Dick E. Doornink, 63, a resident of Sioux Center community for 64 years prior in moving to the LeMars area in 1954, who died at his home Sunday following a lingering illness. He had been in falling health since last June.
Services were conducted by the Rev. James Hansom and burial was made in the LeMnrs city cemetery under the direction of the Mauer Funeral home.
Mr. Doornink was born June 20, 1896, near Sioux Center, and grew to manhood in this area.
He was married to Julia Wernke March 2, 1921, and the couple farmed in the Doon area for two years then made their home on farms near Sioux Center until moving to a farm near LeMars in 1954, where they had since resided.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Wallace, of LeMars; three brothers, Joe of near Merrill, And Theodore and Andrew, both of Sioux Center, two sisters; Mrs. Abe Van Roekel of Maurice and Mrs. John Vander Berg of Sioux Center; and two grandchildren.
His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
