"Thomas C. Coon Monticello Dies --- Paralysis Following Lightning Shock Results In Death

"Monticello, July 12. --- Thomas C. Coon of Monticello, died in St. Mary's hospital in Decatur at 7 o'clock Tuesday morning. Mr. Coon had been in the hospital for some time and was completely paralyzed. About four years ago, he received a severe electric shock, when the house in which he lived was struck by lightning and has been ill since.

"Thomas C. Coon was born May 22, 1857. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Coon, were early settlers of Piatt county and Monticello. Tom was the oldest of nine children and had lived the greater part of his life in Monticello. He was twice married and a child of the first marriage, Mrs. Maude Martin of Vernal, Utah, with her three sons, survive him.

He also leaves his father, William Coon of Monticello and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ada Beckhart and Emery Coon of Monticello; Mrs. Frank Beckhart of Maroa, Mrs. Rose Shepard of Los Angeles, CA; L. P. Coon and Miss Zella Coon of Glenwood Springs, CO; Mrs. Lucretia Woolington and James Coon of Decatur.

The body will be brought to Monticello Wednesday noon and funeral services will be held in Mackey's chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Monticello cemetery."
