LOUIS WILLIAM "Lou" RIETHMANN, JR. was a noted city attorney for the St. Louis County municipality of Warson Woods, MO, as well as a civic leader and legal figure in the corporate insurance industry in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
A graduate of St. Louis University and its Law School, he was licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and was active in the Missouri Bar Association and legal education in Missouri and Illinois. He served in the Missouri Air National Guard after his higher education.
Highly involved in a wide array of civic, educational, religious and cultural venues (including the distinguished DuBourg Society of ST. LOUIS UNIVERSITY as well as the German-American Heritage Society), LOU was a well-liked and well-loved figure in the metro St. Louis community. He worked for many years as Corporate Attorney for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, as well as in personal practice.
The Louis W. Riethmann, Jr. Memorial Pavilion was named in his honor in August, 2013 at the new St. Louis University Law School Building in Downtown St. Louis.
Mr. Riethmann's concelebrated funeral Mass was held on Wednesday,June 13, 2012, at Ste. Genevieve DuBois Catholic Church in Warson Woods, followed by entombment at Calvary Cemetery Shrine Mausoleum.
Bopp Funeral Chapel in Kirkwood, MO was in charge of arrangements. Lou is survived by his second wife, Elizabeth (nee Krekorian), two children and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, MARY A. (nee Schock), in 1997, who is also entombed next to him within the Calvary Cemetery Shrine Mausoleum, "Notre Dame De Lourdes" corridor (first floor, third corridor to the right of the main entrance, top right tier).
