John C. Heiler, 81, of Leola, passed away Monday afternoon at the Essa Flory Hospice Center of Hospice of Lancaster County, following a long illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Nelson B. and Beulah V. Neff Heiler. John was the husband of Gloria May Stevens Heiler, together they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 8th.

John had worked for many years with Bell Telephone as a switchman until he retired in the late 1980's. He had served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Quincy, a Baltimore Class Heavy Cruiser. He was a long time member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church, had been a member of the Bell Telephone Bowling League, and enjoyed canoeing, fishing and splitting wood to heat the family home.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gloria, his children, Mary A., wife of T. Mark Stillman of Leola and David N., husband of Chris A. Heiler of Lititz, his grandsons, Justin J., husband of Jeanette Stillman of Leola and Jared R. Stillman of State College, and his great grandson, Jaxon R. Stillman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Life Celebration Service from Fred F. Groff Inc., 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday at 10:00 AM with Pastor Claire E. Harstad officiating. Interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Fred F. Groff Inc. on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Please omit flowers.
