Roger D. Rains, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, June 11,2012, at Heritage House Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born Aug. 2,1915, in Freetown,IN.,to the late Edward S. and Fauna (Zike) Rains.

Roger worked as a Master Mechanic for Chrysler Corp. for 30 years,retiring in 1973. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and golfer. He enjoyed making a hole-in-one when he was 85-years-old. He loved watching the Colts and Pacers. Roger was an inventor of several items.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 75 years, Betty (Smith) Rains;son, Jack L. (wife Karen) Rains of New Castle;two grandchildren, Kristi (husband Scott) Duff of Indianapolis and Amy (husband Larry) Scubelek of Fishers;three great-grandchildren, Alexandra Duff, Nicholas Scubelek and Jordan Scubelek;sister, Mildred (husband Midge) Hinchberger;several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tana Rains;three brothers, twin brother, Robert Rains, Charles Rains and Halford Rains;two sisters, Beulah Richey and Virginia Lambo;nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will take place at South Mound Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Services in New Castle.
