Mrs. Marchant Passes Away
The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Arintha Marchant, which accurred (sic) in this city about 12 o'clock on last Friday, brought genuine sadness to the hearts of her relatives and many friends in Pelham and throughout this section of the county. She was about 88 years old.
Mrs. Marchant had been in declining health for a number of years, but during the past five or six weeks her condition was such that she was not able to leave her bed, and during this time loved ones and friends stood by her administering to her everything possible to restore her to health again, but to no avail.
The deceased was a good woman, an accommodating neighbor, a loving mother and devoted Christian, being a member of the Baptist church, joining Harmony Church in this county a number of years ago, and at the time of her death was a member of First Baptist Church of this city.
During the last years of her life she made her home with her children, her husband preceding her to the grave some ten or twelve years ago, being at the time of her death at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. R. Pollock.
Interment was in the family lot at the Pilcher cemetery, and funeral services were held at the grave, being conducted by Rev. J. P. Wardlaw, pastor of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. G. R. Pollock, Mrs. G. A. Smith, and Mrs. R. F. Whiddon of Pelham and Mrs. Loretta Wilkes of near Meigs.
Sympathy is extended the bereaved one is the loss of their mother.

Mrs. Rencie Griner Marchant Dead
Pelham, Ga., July 10.—Mrs. Rencie Griner Marchant died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. R. Pollock Friday. Mrs. Marchant was 80 years old and spent all of her long, useful life in this immediate section. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Pelham. She was born in Thomas county and leaves a large circle of sorrowing friends and relatives. She was the mother of Mrs. J. M. Wilkes, Mrs. R. F. Whiddon, Mrs. G. R. Pollock and Mrs. G. A. Smith, all of Pelham.
The burial was at Pilcher cemetery, near Meigs, in Thomas county, Saturday afternoon.
