The remains of Mr. John Lacombe, Sr., were brought here for burial from Massena on Sunday

John Lacombe, 90 years old, and a resident of the United States for 64 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Crouch, 162 East Orvis street, at 11:00 o'clock , Saturday night. Sunday afternoon the body was removed to the home at Fort Covington and funeral was held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock in the St. Mary's Catholic church in Fort Covington and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery at that place. Six grandsons acted as-pall bearers. Four generations were 'represented at the funeral. Although he was of advanced age, Mr. Lacombe was not ill long. Until a month ago, he and his wife lived in Fort Covington and only recently he had completed a wheelbarrow which would have done credit to a carpenter of far lesser years. He worked at the carpenter, trade until about 25 years ago when he retired but since that time has kept busy in making furniture and other articles for a pastime. Mr. Lacombe was born in Canada, December 15, 1838, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lacombe. He married Miss Margaret Deruchie of Glenwalter, Ont. And the couple came to Fort Covington to reside about 64 years ago, a year following their marriage. Beside the wife, ten children survive and all were able to attend the funeral. They are Mrs. Fred Derochie, Constable, Mrs. Margaret LaClair, Fort Covington, Mrs. Edward Kirkey, Potsdam, Mrs. James Snider, and Mrs. Mary Crouch, Massena; Angus and William Lacombe, Fort Covington; Edmund Lacombe, Lynn, Mass., Dennis Lacombe, Massena and Arthur Lacombe, Bombay. A sister, Mrs. Mary LeFleche, of Fort Covington, and 58 grandchildren also survive. The widow is 83 years old; they had been married 65 years. Due to the illness of Mrs. Edmund Lacombe who is in the hospital at Lynn, Mass., the funeral was held on Monday morning, and Edmund Lacombe left immediately following the funeral for his wife’s bedside.
