He was born on July 30, 1945 in Akron and has been a Berlin Heights resident his whole life. He was a 1965 graduate of Berlin Heights High School. He worked for Wayne Lutes Construction and drove truck for Ted Heitsche Trucking and Gerken Trucking. He served on the Berlin Township Fire Department for 37 years and the Berlin Heights Village Council since 1995. He has been a member of the East Townsend Masonic Lodge since 1988 and also a member of the Berlin Township Conservation Club. He has been a lifelong member of the Berlin Heights Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Debra (McClellan), his sons Michael C. (Tevon) Oehling II, of Berlin Heights, Shane F. Oehling, of Berlin Heights, a grandson Reese M. Oehling, a sister-in-law, Diane McClellan and fiance Mark Holcomb, of Pittsburgh, and a nephew Russ (Shannon) Bristol, of Berlin Heights, beloved dogs, Addie and Daisy, special friends, Melvin (Barbara) Kramer, and Cindy (Dennis Bores) Kramer and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Burt C. and Esther (Hathaway) Oehling, sister and brother-in-law Rex and Alice Bristol and his beloved dog Emma.
Friends may call on Thursday June 7, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Friday, June 8, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the Berlin Township Fire Station #1 on State Rt. 61 in Berlin Heights. Services will be held at the Fire Station on Saturday June 9 at 11:00 am.
