Evelyn Blackmon 'Chicken' was born in Dallas, TX, September 12, 1930 to the late Phill Glenn Sr. and Fannie Viola Glenn.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She became a proud member of the Inspiring Body of Christ on April 16, 2000.
Her career began with Sky Chef and she continued her professional career as an Account Manager with American Airlines, where she retired after 25 years of loyal service.
She was married for 32 years to the late Eddie Blackmon. Evelyn and Eddie spent many years traveling and entertaining family and friends. Evelyn was the step-mother and grandmother by way of marriage to Eddie's 6 children and a host of grand-children.
Evelyn departed this life peacefully in her sleep on May 23, 2012. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Billy Glenn; Twin-Evelener Seals; Flora Ramey; Jewel Crenshaw; Martha Johnson and brothers Phill Glenn Jr and Richard Glenn.
She leaves to cherish her memory her step-Mother Glen Elsie Glenn four sisters: Inez Punch of Dallas, TX; Sandra [Charlie] Griffin of Dallas, TX; Carolyn Campbell and Phyllis Stevenson of DeSoto, TX.; brother-in-law William Johnson Sr. of Dallas, TX.
Evelyn was especially fond of her nieces and nephews. She was a very proud Auntie. She spoke often of her love for each of them and the very fond memories she cherished. They are located in Dallas, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Arkansas – but never far from her thoughts. Her refrigerator was often filled with pictures of children; grand-children and many others. It was evident by this and her conversation that each held a special place in her heart. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of relatives, friends and her church family
