Edna Lucille Schlegel, age 88, died Dec. 26, 2002 at Ness County Hospital, Ness City, Kansas.

She was born July 19, 1914 at Mooreland, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jaames and Ellen Cleary Alexander. She was a homemaker and resident of Ness County since 1918.

On August l, 1942, she married Roy C. Schlegel. He died Dec. 4, 1971.

Edna belonged to Prairie Schooners 4-H Club, Manteno; Tri-Circle-Jaynes, Manteno; Frank Stull American Legion Aux. Post #152, Ness City; and United Methodist church, Ness City.

Survivors include son, Kenneth Schlegel of Ness City; three daughters, Myra Ring of Evanston, Wyoming, Glenn Keller of Dodge City, Kansas and Marilyn Luetters of Hays, Kansas. 12 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Joe Alexander, Ted “Leo” Alexander, Mike Alexander, Garnett Alexander, James Alexander, and Earl Alexander; four sisters, Ellen Holmes, Florence Arnhart, Marguerite Smith and Lucy Alexander.

Funeral service was Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas, officiated by Pastor Sue Talbot, United Methodist Church, Ness City. Burial was in Ness City Cemetery.

Friends were able to call on Friday and until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
