Winthrop: Dell Adams, 73, a carpenter, passed away at Hotel Winthrop on Feb16th. He was born at Fort Jackson, Mar. 13, 1868, one of two children of Luke and Alzina Coolidge Adams. On Nov. 10, 1887, he married Miss Carrie Goodale. They made their home in East St. Louis, IL for several years, later moving to Hiram, Ohio, where Mrs. Adams passed away in 1909. Both Mr. and Mrs. Adams had musical talent and made much of it in their home. They also composed several numbers, Mrs. Adams writing the words and he the music. They had four children, two sons, Millard and Glen Adams passed away several years ago. After living in Ohio for some time, Mr. Adams returned to East St. Louis, where he married Mrs. Hannah Mallett, who died many years ago. He then came east and has since made his home at Hotel Winthrop with his cousin, Mrs. Cora Locke, frequently visiting his sister, Mrs. Lillian Adams Smith, 209 Park St., Watertown. Mr. Adams attended both the Congregational and Universalist Churches
here and assisted in the music.
Besides his sister and cousin, Mrs. Locke, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Gladys) Brown, of Olna, Ohio; a son, Fay Adams, East Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Walter, Charles, Ruby, Ruth, Mabel and Dorothy Brown of Olna, OH, and Helen Adams, East Cleveland, OH, besides many cousins, nieces and nephews. The Rev. Ralph G. English of the Congregational Church conducted the service.
Mrs. Lillian Smith of Watertown and Fay Adams of East Cleveland, OH, who visited his father in July, 1941, came for the service.
Burial in the Fort Jackson-Hopkinton Cemetery next spring.
