Mr. Knight was a member of First Baptist Church in Alexander City and served as a past Sunday School teacher for boys. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and graduated from Beauregard High School and Auburn University with a degree in Math and Science. He then worked for Old Pepperhill in Opelika, J/P/ Stevens in South Carolina, and then retired from Russell Corp. after 33 years of service. He worked as an Assistant Supervisor of #7, Assistant to the Vice President of Contract Finishing and retired as Vice President of the Contract Finishing, Fabrics Division. Mr. Knight was a member of Kiwanis and had been a past president. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, was an avid golfer, and was always involved in family activities.

Funeral service for Mr. James Heflin Knight, 80, of Alexander City, will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Skip Lowery will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden Hills Cemetery in Opelika, AL at 2:30 pm. The family will receive
friends on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Knight passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born on October 10, 1931 in Opelika, Alabama to Thomas Heflin Knight and Willie Pearl Hamby Knight.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Alexander City
and served as a past Sunday School teacher for boys. Mr. Knight was a U.S. Navy veteran, and he graduated from Beauregard High School and graduated from Auburn
University with a degree in Math and Science. He then worked for Old Pepperell in Opelika, J.P. Stevens in South Carolina, and then retired from Russell Corp. after 33 years of service. He worked as Assistant Supervisor of #7, Assistant to the Vice President of Contract Finishing and Sales, Sales Manager of the Fabrics Division, Manager of Contract Finishing, and retired as Vice President of the
Contract Finishing, Fabrics Division. Mr. Knight was a member of Kiwanis and had been a past president. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, was an avid golfer, and was always involved in family activities.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Murray Knight of Alexander City; daughters, Karen Eastin (George) of Maryville, TN, Annette Miller (John) of Birmingham, and Christie Caine (Randy) of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Stephanie Pesterfield (Brad) of Maryville, TN, Jamie Gibson of Maryville, TN, Lauren Miller of Birmingham, John
Michael Miller of Birmingham, AL, Randie Caroline Caine of Sylacauga, and Taylor Caine (Beth) of Sylacauga; sister, Ruby Wooten of Opelika; and nephew, Lee Wooten (Myrtis) of Beauregard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will accept flowers but prefers that donations be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 400, Alexander City, Alabama 35011 or to Children's Harbor, 1 Our Children's Highway, Alexander City, AL 35010. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneyfuneralhome.com
