Dr. C. J. Ducote was educated in the Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, and was graduated with the degree of A. B. in the class of 1871. For the two years succeeding his graduation he was principal of St. Joseph's Academy of Baton Rouge, which school was very flourishing under his management. In 1873 he entered the medical department of the University of Louisiana, now the Tulane University of New Orleans, from which institution he was sent out as an M. D. in 1875. After completing his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, he moved to Cottonport and set up practice there.

Served as Avoyelles Parish Coroner from 1888-1892
From 1900 to 1904 served as a state senator representing the 15th District.
One of the original founders of the Cottonport Bank in 1902.
First president of the the Avoyelles Parish Medical Society which was formally organized on March 29, 1904.
Elected to the Louisiana State Medical Society in 1905.
