William Henry VanEaton was born September 16, 1848 to Samuel and Elizabeth Sutton VanEaton in Union, Indiana. He married Emily Jane Anderson on November 29, 1866 in Clinton, Indiana. He served in the Civil War (listed as William Vaneton) as a private in Company B, 116th Regiment, Indiana Infantry. He mustered in August 8, 1863, and mustered out March 1, 1864. He contracted tuberculosis during the Civil War and died June 12, 1868, three days before his daughter, Dora Alice VanEaton was born.
