Sharon Marleen Skelly of Baton Rouge died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center as the result of an unexpected and massive cerebral aneurysm. Ms. Skelly was 43, born in New Orleans on April 23, 1962. She was the only daughter of Martha G. Skelly and the late James T. Skelly. Ms. Skelly was a graduate of Louise S. McGehee Preparatory School, as well as a graduate of Loyola University in communications and public relations. Ms. Skelly had enjoyed a long career in public service. She served as public information coordinator for Mississippi Educational Television and later was program manager for the Mississippi Department of Human Services. At the time of her death, she was the disaster relief coordinator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency in southern Louisiana. Sharon M. Skelly was a member of the American Business Women's Association and the International Association of Administrative Professionals. She had also served on the board of directors for New Life for Women and was a member of the Celtic Heritage Society. Sharon's passions were her family, friends and cooking, and she will be remembered lovingly for her "dirty rice" and crawfish etouffé. Ms. Skelly is survived by her mother, Martha Guedry Skelly; two brothers, Joseph P. Skelly and wife Elisabeth Skelly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Kevin M. Skelly and Carmie Berry of Baton Rouge; niece, Erin M. Skelly of Pensacola; and nephew, Ryan C. Skelly of Jackson, Miss. Ms. Skelly is also survived by the De Shon family and by her best friend, Debbie Overmoe, all of Fort Walton Beach.
