Woody was born and raised in Vermillion, SD. Spend most of his adult life in Breckenridge, MN where he started the W.W. Mortensen Lumber Company. He married Jeanette K. Erickson in The Little White Chapel, Las Vegas, NV with some friends in a double wedding on 12 Jan 1946. Woody and Jeanette and their four children moved to Phoenix, AZ in Jan 1964, where the remained until their passing.
