In 1820 he resided with his father in Wilkes Georgia and in 1830 he resided with his father William Robertson in Elbert, Georgia. In 1840 in Elbert, Georgia Samuel is counted as 1 male 30-39, 2 females under 5, 1 female 20-29 which would count Samuel, wife Elizabeth & daughters Emilia & Permelia. According to census records in 1850, in Newton, Mississippi, Samuel resided with his wife Elizabeth and children Emilia, Pamelia, John, Frances, Magdaline, Thomas and William. The census record of 1860 counts widowed Samuel residing with children Pamelia, Caroline, John, Magdaline Ann, Thomas, William and Sarah Elizabeth in Newton Mississippi.
