Who in the 34th Year of his Ministry, and the 58th of his Age, on the 20th of July, 1772, Entered into the Joy of his Lord. As a tutor and afterwards one of ye Corporation of Yale College, highly venerated and Esteemed. As a Minister of the Gospel, one whose praise is in the Churches. Sollicited to precide over two of the principal Academies In America, The Colleges at New Haven & Princeton, His Affection for the People of his Charge did not Permit His acceptance of either of those honorable Satations. But having respect to the Recompence of Reward, finished the pious Course he early began in the Gospel Ministry, And here resteth from his Labours Through life exerted. The bold to curb and the Licentious awe, And turn the Tide of Souls another Way.
