Born in 1846 near Javor, Bohemia (a small village found on a map of the present day Czech Republic – just south of the town of Plzen & north of the town of Klatau); in 1866 Johanna married Wenzel Edlbeck; he was age 21, she was 20. They immigrated to America in 1888 with their two oldest sons when Johanna was age 42.

The rest of the family followed later when they could afford the cost of transport.

Wenzel & Johanna initially settled at Bessemer, MI; about two years later they came to Wausaukee, WI. They resided here for three years when they settled on a farm in Montpelier (Township) in Kewaunee, County where they live for almost twenty years. By 1910 had moved to back to Wausaukee, where they finished out their lives.

NOTE: the family surname has been captured as both EDLBECK &/or EDLEBECK. Wenzel is the Czech equivalent to James...a both names show up in official records.
