Herminia Haydee Andersen, age 90 years, and a 54-year resident of Walnut Creek, CA, entered into rest May 6, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Asuncion, Paraguay and lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and Pensacola, Florida before settling in California with her family in 1958. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Juan Carlos Andersen, M.D. She is survived by six children: Martha McLaughlin and husband Lawrence of Sebastopol, CA, John Andersen and wife Monica of Chesterfield, MO; Maria Freeman and husband Timothy of Concord; Helga Andersen and husband William Boaman, Eric Andersen, and Carmen Andersen, all of Walnut Creek; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a nephew, Carlos Andersen, MD. Herminia was a member of St. John Vianney Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday May 9 with a 7:30 pm Vigil Service, at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Rd, Concord. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday May 10 at St. John Vianney Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society ,1700 Webster St, Oakland, CA 94612.
