Melvern- Carl David Coffman, 73, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth. He was born on February 16, 1939 in Springfield, MO., the son of William and Bertha Cain Coffman.
Carl had lived in Topeka before moving to Melvern 14 years ago.
Carl had served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960. He was a warehouse worker for Palmer News in Topeka.
On March 24, 1972 Carl married Frances Davis in Lyndon.
Carl was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Coffman; a daughter, Karen Coffman; and a brother, Burton Coffman.
Carl is survived by his wife Frances of the home; two sons, David Coffman of Burlingame, and Kenneth Coffman of Osage City; a sister, Vanessa Dark of Topeka; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Carl will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 12 at the True Grace Community Church west of Melvern. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until service time at the church. Inurnment will be in the Lyndon Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carl Coffman Memorial Fund. Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon is assisting the family.
