DOROTHY ELAINE GARRISON
February 14, 1932 ~ May 5, 2012

Dorothy Elaine Garrison, 80, passed away on May 5th, 2012, of complications from diabetes. She was born in Wakefield, Nebraska, on Valentine's Day, 1932, to Herman and Martha Klaner. As a child, Dorothy worked hard on a farm.

Dorothy married George Garrison on February 13th, 1955, and they moved west to Vancouver, Washington for work. She was widowed in 1996 after 41 years of marriage. They had four children: Georgia, Martha, Jessie, and Gary.

Practical by nature, Dorothy was happiest helping out at Grace Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Washington in the kitchen, tying quilts, or helping with the church rummage sales. She took care of children many years and played the bells at church. She especially enjoyed family holiday celebrations, most recently Easter.

For twenty-five years, Dorothy was a Columbian newspaper carrier in her neighborhood, Garrison Heights in Vancouver, Washington.

Dorothy looked forward to "meeting Jesus" and she always signed her cards and notes with "Jesus loves you."

She is survived by daughters, Georgia Clark and Jessie Garrison; son, Gary (Colleen) Garrison; six grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, and Paul (Pauline) Clark, and (twins) Benjamin and Sarah, and Adam Garrison; eight great-grand children; and siblings, Merle (Dian) Thomsen of California, Darrol Jahde of Nebraska, Carol Ingelson of Oregon, and Sandy (Bob) Klepper of Texas.

Burial was on May 11th, 2012 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington. A Celebration of Life were on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, 9900 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA.
