Josiah was my maternal 3rd great grandfather and was born in Rowan Co., NC. His parents were Jacob and Nancy Burge Link who married on January 20, 1803 in Rowan Co., NC.

Josiah married Jane Rex on February 23, 1831 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC. They had one son, Jacob, born in 1832 in NC before they traveled to Farmington, St. Francois Co., MO where they remained for the rest of their lives.

They had 11 additional children, all born in MO: William (1835), Joseph Washington (my maternal 2nd great grandfather) (1838), Catharine (1840), Susan (1841), Alfred M. (1842), Elizabeth (1844), James (1846), Mary (1848), John (1850), Jane 1852) and Diana (1854).

It appears Josiah died between 1870 and 1880 since he does not appear on the 1880 census but I guessed he died in 1875. I have nothing to prove that was the year. I also guessed that the German Cemetery was where he was buried because it was the oldest in Doe Run, MO.

A HUGE Thank You to Shelly G (Contributor #49207879) for informing me on 1-11-2021 that she had visited the Missouri Archives but was unable to find proof of the exact year he died.
