Marriage record revealed George Hensley and Ruth VanBibber married on Saturday May 20, 1815 in Greenup County, Kentucky. The bondsman was John Miller and consent was given by her father, Jacob VanBibber.

George was about twenty-seven and Ruth was fifteen the day they married.

The 1820 census of August 7, revealed George was engaged in agriculture and they lived in Floyd County, Kentucky. Household members: George Hendey (26-45), Rutha (16-26), Robert (under 10) and three female slaves (45 & up).

The 1830 census revealed they lived in Greenup County, Kentucky. Household members: George Hensley (40-49), Ruth (30-39), Robert & William (10-14), John, George & one male (5-9), one male (under 5) and Sarah (under 5).

The 1840 census revealed four household members were engaged in agriculture and they lived in Breathitt, Greenup County, Kentucky. George and Ruth could not read or write. Household members: Geo Hensley (50-59), Ruth (40-49), John & George (15-19), 1m (10-14), Sarah (10-14), Susannah (5-9) and Nancy & Tabitha (under 5).

Kentucky Land Grant of March 18, 1846 revealed George Hensley received 117 acres of land with watercourse, Hensley's Brook in Greenup County.

The 1850 census of September 6, revealed George was a farmer and their real estate value was $200. They were living in District 2, Greenup County, Kentucky. George and Rutha were born in Virginia and could not read or write. Household members: George Hensley (62), Rutha (50), Susan (17), Nancy (14), Tabitha (10) and Jacob (7). Their son, William (32) and family lived next door and their son, George W. (26) and family lived three doors away.

The 1860 census of June 25, revealed Rutha was a widow, her real estate value was $150 and her personal property value was $50. She was living in Boyd County, Kentucky and her post office was in Catlettsburg. Household members: Rutha Hensley (63), Jacob (17) and grandchildren; Susan (7) and Letheriel (6). Her son, John (38) and family lived two doors away and son, Washington (36) and family lived two doors away on the other side.

The 1870 census of September 30, revealed Ruth's widowed son, Robert was listed as head of household and her real estate value was $500. They were living in District 4, Boyd County, Kentucky. Household members: Ruth Hensley (70), Robert Hensley (53), James (22), Ruth A. Hall (21), Thomas Hall (8/12), Wm (19), Charles (17) and Ruth (70). Ruth's son, George W. (47) lived two doors away.

The 1880 census of June 17, revealed Rutha was living with her grandson, Setherial and family in Cannonsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky. Household members: Rutha Hensley (79), Setherial Hensley (25), Mary S. (23) and Eugene (1/12).

Rutha died after the 1880 census.

Boyd County, Kentucky have no death records between 1880 and 1900.

The Boyd County Library could not find a cemetery listing for her.
