MULKEYTOWN -- Robert Dean Robbins, 81, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his home.
Robert Dean was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Franklin County to Virgil and Mennie (Hammonds) Robbins.
He is survived by a cousin, raised as a sister, Glenda Kay Swalls.
He married Helen June Hagler of Royalton on April 28, 1951.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Helen June Robbins, and their five children, Dennis and Cheryl Robbins, Jackie and the late Buster Zimbro, Lisa and George Moore, Todd and Tammy Robbins and Robert and Janet Robbins; 11 grandchildren, Shad Zimbro, Colby Robbins, Doug Robbins, Zach Zimbro, Paige (Robbins) Ruffino, Cara Robbins, Chelsea Robbins, Maggie Robbins, Jori Moore, Mallory Robbins and Emma Robbins; and 11 great-grandchildren, Gavin Zimbro, Tay-Lyn Taylor, Zoe Zimbro, Dayle Ruffino, Reagan Robbins, Jonah Ruffino, Braden Robbins, Keiara Taylor, Brodie Robbins, Grace Ruffino and Zevon Zimbro.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Freeman United Coal Co. for 37 years.
Robert Dean was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.
He spent his retirement traveling with his wife and friends and working in his garage. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and always told his family, "I have had a good life and I love all of you."
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to or and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today, May 2, in Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, in Maple Hill Cemetery Sesser.
