Betty was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Chicago, to Roy and Dorothy Holmquist. She was the third of four children born to her family. She graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago and went to work at AB Dick Co. Her family had a summer home on Crooked Lake in Lake Villa. One summer she met Frank Slazes, son of Frank and Arline Slazes. Betty and Frank married May 26, 1956, in Chicago, and started their life in Lake Villa. They enjoyed their life together, having six children and many good times fishing and snowmobiling with friends. Despite losing Frank in 1989, Betty continued to enjoy life with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. More recently, she enjoyed her many senior friends taking line dancing lessons and playing cards. Betty is survived by her brothers, Roy (Carol) and Gene (Ginger) Holmquist; and her children, Frank (Judy), Vincent, Gary, Stacie (John), Nancy and Doug (Laura). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Slazes, Kristen Nau, Ashley Slazes, Jacob Kasperski and Samuel Kasperski; and also her great-grandchildren, Makenzie Slazes, Cassidy Slazes, Christopher Slazes Jr., Kaylynn Slazes and Julian Nau. She will also be missed by her four sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her mother and father; and her sister, Nancy.
Interment in Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
