Former resident Floy L. Bruce, 87, died May 13, 2003 in Centralia. She was born July 25, 1915, in Latah County, Idaho. She lived in Vancouver for 27 years and in Cathlamet from 1982 to 1990, before moving to Centralia. Mrs. Bruce was a licensed pratical nurse who earned her degree at Emanuel Hospital in Portland. She worked at Vancouver Memorial Hospital from 1955 to 1982. She was a member of Cathlamet Assembly of God Church and Mountain View Christian Center in Ridgefield. She loved traveling to Hawaii and the East Coast, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Roger Bruce, in 1982; a daughter, Gaynell Wishon, in 1993; two sisters; and a brother. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Dyer of Ordway, Colo.; a son Glenn Bruce of Winlock; two brothers, Glen Rayburn of Thompson Falls, Mont., and Bill Rayburn in Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Vancouver. Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
