Civil War Union soldier. He enrolled on June 3, 1863 and mustered in on July 6, 1863 at Philadelphia as a Private in Company I of the 44th Regiment of the Militia of 1863. He gave his occupation as pocketbook maker. He mustered out with his company on August 27, 1863. He enrolled on January 24, 1864 and mustered in on the following day at Philadelphia as a Private in Battery B of the 2nd Heavy Artillery/112th Pennsylvania Volunteers. He mustered out with his battery on January 29, 1866. He later served in the Veterans' Corps.
