"FREDERICK T. MASON
Well-Known Veteran and Clubman is Victim of Pneumonia
After ten days illness, Frederick Thurston Mason, long prominent in society and club circles, died yesterday of pneumonia at his home, 2118 Walnut street. Mr. Mason was 73 years old and his age mitigated his recovery when he became ill a fortnight ago. Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 12.30 o'clock in St. James Protestant Episcopal Church.
Mr. Mason was born in Philadelphia, his father being an English physician who had a successful practice here. The son achieved distinction in the Civil War as an ensign under Admiral Farragut. He married Rebecca Stevenson, a sister of Mrs. John H. Easby and Cornelius Stevenson. Mrs Mason was, until her practical retirement from society several years ago, the author of the Monday Evening Dancing Class, which ranked with the Assemblies in exclusiveness."
