Lavina or "Levinna" was raised by Michael and Marilla (Knickerbocker) Isenhour. She was probably born in the Town of Seneca, Ontario County, NY. Lavina moved with Michael and Marilla from New York State to Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, where, on April 30, 1837, she married Alexander Grant. The Grants moved to Clinton, Huron County, Ontario, Canada. In 1871 most of the family moved to Preston, Fillmore County, Minnesota, before settling in Scotland, Bon Homme County, South Dakota, where Lavina died April 4, 1892, age 80, according to a cemetery record.
