MRS. J. A. MUNRO PASSES, AGED 77
The death occurred this morning of Mrs. John A. Munro, the former Mary Jane Jamieson, at her home on the Bowesville road. Formerly of Cornwall, Mrs. Munro moved to Ottawa with her late husband 22 years ago. She was in her 78th year.
Born at Glen Roy, Glengarry county in 1870, she was a daughter of the late George Jamieson and Mary Jane Elliot. She moved with the family to Ormstown, Que., as a child and received her education there, returning to Glengarry on the death of her mother.
She married at Maxville in 1891, and lived for a short while in Glen Roy and Cornwall before coming to Ottawa in 1926. While living in Cornwall, she was an active member of the Women's Institute, and the WA of Knox church.
In Ottawa, she was a member of Chalmers church and very active in the Women's Missionary Society.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. John (Ethelwyn) Welton, of Ottawa, Mrs. Garrett (Alma) Poapst, of Northfield, Ont., Mrs. Stanley (Mary) Annand, of City View, Mrs. Eric (Verna) Nicholls, of Ottawa and Mrs. C. Ross (Clarice) Brereton, of Toronto; one son, Sydney J. Munro, of the Bowesville road, 17 grandchildren; one brother, George of Lancaster and one sister, Mrs. John MacGregor, of Williamstown.
She was predeceased by her son, Clarence, in 1911, and her husband eight years ago.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hulse and Playfair chapel, 315 McLeod street, by Rev. W. H. Cramm. Internment will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.
